TTR-250 Clank when turning off engine
I own one of these and find it amusing and followed a link to this site asking about info. I joined.
My information, possibly mistaken is that Suzuki used the 4-speed design from the old TM series and put the whole thing in a long-travel and suspension frame. The design was an early one, hence the 36 inch plus saddle height. While it works fine for my formidable bulk, 250 plus and over 6 feet tall it couldn't have been any fun for anyone smaller without significant mods.
Love the bike as I now just putter around the woods. The 4-speed is a perfect match for the powerband though I have detuned the bike a little with a thicker headgasket.
Any issues I should watch out for and any mods worthwhile?
Good Health to All, bob
Everything is stock on the bike, I ride mostly wide open trails, some single track, etc. I ride fairly fast with throttle open, but of course not as fast in some single track sections.
Anyway, my bike hasn't responded to the cold weather well at all. I thought it would be fine since it came a bit rich from the factory.
So far I've changed the main Jet up one size from 370 to 380, that has worked well and hit's hitting on the top end.
I've changed the needle clip positon from third to second position from top and it's hitting in the mid range.
The trouble I'm having is with the low end, I've got the stock pilot jet in there, and the bike seems to run better with the air screw actually turned out about 2.5 turns. Which confuses me cause I thought I would need to turn the air screw in to richen it during the winter???
I am thinking I need to go up one size from 42.5 to 45, but there's some confusion here because according to what I've read I would need to actually go down a size cause the air screw is turned out so far.
Please help, I'm only going to probably ride a few time during the winter but I need to clear this up and make sure it's running right:ride: :ride:
In Borrego (which sees lots of Jeep traffic, but few motorcycles) it was all washboard, and in Ocotillo (mostly motorcycle/ATV traffic) there was no washboard but lots of whoops. Clearly, vehicle types effect the ground surface in very different ways!
Food & Drink: Hakuba used to be known as Kobe Jones, where a chef called Shingo Suzuki dished out some of the best Californian-style sushi to be found in the capital.
The chances of shifting bicycle being set upon by bandits are unlikely. They don't usually roam around airfields in the dead of night, and there are enough security systems to guard a Manhattan bank. Perlmutter paused to point his cane out the window shifting bicycle at a tiny red light that was barely visible. Even as we speak, we're being monitored by a video shifting bicycle camera.
NUMA is not in the salvage business, Captain. We make no claim shifting bicycle on Polar Queen.
